I also love to paint small scale landscape paintings. The majority of my works are 5"x7" or smaller. I have done bigger but not many. I paint mostly with acrylics but I also play around with soft pastels and watercolors.
I paint a lot of sunsets. Islesford has the most amazing sunsets in the summers. These are often my inspiration during the cold, snowy, wintry months. I love painting the view I get from the house my family stays in when we are up there. The view is of the Great Harbor, Sutton Island, the mountains of Acadia National Park and all the boats that go by. We have rowboats, skiffs, kayaks, small sailboats, yachts, the Mail boat, the Sea Princess tourist boat, schooners and of course, the lobster boats and so many motor boats.
I also like to paint flowers and houses. I often take pictures of things that attract my attention. I also ask friends and family if I can use pictures they take. Once I have finished the paintings, I often take pictures of them and send them to a local printer. From there, I have the images made into note cards or calendars I sell during the summer on Islesford or during the fall at local craft fairs. I also sell a lot from word of mouth. The note cards are printed on smooth, heavy card stock and are blank on the inside. I sell them for 3 for $10 or 6 for $15. The set of 3 are the same, the set of 6 are chosen by the artist.
